Many years ago,  I wrote a long detailed and perfectly crafted letter to a man of wisdom.  I remember laboring over it for weeks, making sure it expressed where I was and what I was looking for.  I was so desperate.

The words I used filled 4 pages, my attempt to represent how lost I was, how found I wanted to be.

I was grasping for direction.

I remember perfectly how totally blown out I was when I received a four sentence response, which wasn’t even a response.. it was a quote from the sacred Dhammapada:

“The bad things, don’t do them.

The good things, try to do them.

Try to purify, subdue your mind.

That is the teaching of all buddhas.”
